Skins back on TV back on the road


A new series of E4's drama series Skins returns in January and to coincide the Skins tour heads out with various artists featured in the series. This includes a date at the Monkey Cafe, Swansea 20th January with Katy B, Nero & Jagga.

Kate Nash stengthens her foundations


Kate Nash will be undertaking a 15 date UK tour early in 2011 including The Globe in Cardiff 30th March.

Teddy Thompson joins the Glee Club


Teddy Thompson will be following hot on the heels of his father when he plays the Glee club in February. Richard Thompson plays St David's Hall 23rd January and son Teddy Thompson will be playing the Cardiff Glee Club on Sunday 13th February. Tickets are on sale now.

Manics Delayed (Hopefully Not Forever)


The Manic Street Preachers have had to postpone their home town gig at the Blackwood Miner's Institute due to illness that was to have taken place 2nd December. The gig will now be re-scheduled for a later date.

Nina Nastasia has cancelled her forthcomng UK tour for health reasons including her date at the Glee Club, Cardiff due to have taken place 29th November. Her website had this message:

Cream of Canada in Newport


Gathered in Song are putting on a blinder of a show 25th September at Le Pub in Newport when they present 2 Canadian singers. Justin Rutledge has been compared to Ryan Adams and was shortlisted for the Polaris Prize (equivalent of the Mercury Prize) in 2008. Also appearing is Amelai Curran a talented singer songwriter who won a Juno award(kind of like the Brits)this year for her album 'Hunter Hunter'.

America Beckons for Joy Formidable


Welsh band The Joy Formidable have signed to US label Canvasback Music (Atlantic Records). This, alongside a North American tour starting in November, indicate that the band look set for Stateside success in 2011.

Egyptian Hip Hop added to SWN line up


Egyptian Hip Hop, one of this year's most hotly tipped bands, have been added to the line up of this year's SWN Festival taking place throughout Cardiff 21-23 October.

Lost Prophets Headline Ryder Cup Tee off


The Lost Prophets have joined the Ryder Cup gig being held at the Millennium Stadium 29th September alongside a 'varied' line up including Katherine Jenkins and Only Men Aloud. Rumours that Islet were also due to appear have been dismissed as wishful thinking on our part!

SWN 2010 launched


This year's SWN Festival was launched yesterday by Huw Stevens and John Rostron at the Pierhead Building in Cardiff. This year's festival takes place 21st - 23rd October and looks set to be the biggest and best so far with a number of changes:

* Roving wrist bands (£45) will cover city centre venues, day wrist bands are also available. Other gigs in venues such as the Globe will be ticketed separately.

* Welsh language event 'Dan Oed' for 14-18 year olds taking place at the Millennium Music Hall.

*The festival has secured funding from various sources such as PRS Music fondation.

Acts announced this week include The Swans, Al Lewis, new Rough Trade signing Joe Worricker, Paul Heaton and the nascent genius Perfume Genius.

Newsoundwales will be hosting a night at the festival. More details to follow in due course.

The band will also be supporting Ellie Goulding on her tour this Autumn. Bright Light Bright Light recently played at the newsoundwales showcase at Chapter Arts Centre and Rod Thomas (the band's main writer and performer)was our artist of the year in 2008.

Spillers is on the Move


Spillers Records have found new premises after months of speculation and worry that they might be closed for good. The world's oldest record shop has found new premises in Morgan Arcade and will be open for business in the near future. The current premises, where they have been situated for 60 years, will close it's doors for the last time this Saturday 26th June.
